All the 53 African countries are members of CAF, the Confederation of African Football. Founded in 1957, CAF coordinates African football events and awards the prestigious African Footballer of the Year Award. African countries have been assured of a place in the World Cup squad ever since 1970. Cameroon, Morocco, Nigeria, and Tunisia are the countries that have made most appearances in World Cups. The teams get very good practice during the five major national tournaments, African Cup of Nations, African Nations Championships, CAF Confederation Cup, and the African Champions League. For youth teams, there is the UEFA/CAF Meridian Cup. Ten CAF members participate in the Arab Nations Cup. There are regional and club competitions also.
